DoJ To Hire Ex-Enron Prosecutor to Run Criminal Division By Devlin Barrett The Justice Department plans to hire an ex-Enron prosecutor to run the agency's criminal division, according to people familiar with the decision. Leslie Caldwell served as director of the federal government's Enron Task Force from 2002 to 2004. More recently, she has been working in the New York office of the law firm Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP. Prior to leading the Enron prosecution team, she served as a senior federal prosecutor in California and New York, where she focused on white collar crime, securities fraud, and racketeering cases. At the Justice Department, Ms. Caldwell would take the position vacated by Lanny Breuer, a well-known defense attorney who raised the profile of the office but also faced repeated questions about why the Obama administration had not prosecuted major financial institutions for their roles in the financial meltdown. Ms. Caldwell is on vacation and could not be immediately reached for comment. A spokeswoman for her firm declined to comment. A Justice Department spokesman also declined to comment.
