The KKR buyout theory has always been interesting. The problem is that things seldom turn out the way they are envisioned. KKR has been strangely silent about giving up $220 million in stock warrants. Does that mean that they simply walked away and just took the loss. Probably not. The problem with a buyout is the shareholders. Why pay the shareholders anything? KKR may really be a silent partner that will take Kodak private - after they emerge from bankruptcy. This is what AP always wanted to do. Will this cost more? Yes, but it is probably less than what would have to be paid to the shareholders. You have to ask why the bondholders have apparently agreed to take only %5 on their investment. Probably because they know they will be made whole after the emergence. A backroom deal may have been cut. One in which KKR takes Kodak private and cleans up in the process. So why should they fret about losing $220 million in stock warrants when they can make a $1 billion putting the deal together? Conspiracy theory? Perhaps, but it may account for what has been seen in the actions of the court, the Trustee, and bondholders. The game was rigged and there was no way to prevent it. It is just a sign of the times. There was a good article in Market Watch - "America’s New $60 Trillion Deadliest Enemy" describing what could happen to the country and world in the next 10 years. articles.marketwatch.com/story/americas-new-60-trillion-deadliest-enemy-2013-08-14?link=MW_story_latest_newsBasically, the environment, world financial system, and humanity is toast due to the greed of the ruling class. This is similar to the collapse of the Mayan world and other civilizations throughout history. Whether you believe this and if humanity can excape this fate if it is true will be interesting. One thing that can be said is that the DoD takes this seriously and has been think tanking this for quite some time. Enough of the doom and gloom, conspiracy theories, and where is Kevin Bland? Give him some credit since what he elaborated was as good a theory as any other on this board. We will all know soon enough. The only question is if this does come to pass could a class action lawsuit ensue on the part of the holders of the canceled shares?

Kott,
don't you think that it would be cheaper for KKR to buyout EK now?
There's one thing that batter me the most..
Are you telling me that EK mgmt. able to block an outside party like Samsung put in an offer?
I just can't understand that the judge is suppose to get the best deal for all stakeholders and yet
he appears to go with JUST ONE shitty POR not opening the doors for other interested parties..
How does this POR benefits all stakeholders?
Confirmation hearing is Aug 20.. what happen to open solicitation of a better POR?

A KKR (or anyone else) buyout should be cheaper now, but there is no way of knowing what deals were arranged behind closed doors. If a buyout was imminent there probably would have been some sort of leak. This would raise the pps and could scuttle the deal.
If KKR is involved then they want to put this together in such a way as to maximize their return versus their $220 million investment. The shareholders and MM manipulations prior are extra baggage that they would want to jettison.
You have to take everything that has been said and done by the court, Trustee, and voting classes at face value. They will likely approve the POR and cancel the commons. That is what they have stated and intend to execute - our interests be damned. It is certainly rotten and corrupt. Unfortunately, you just have to look at what happened to the rest of the nation in the housing debacle. The Wall Street elite prospered at everyone else's expense just so they could have their fancy digs on the east end of Long Island.

I don't see how the math works that anyone would offer a buyout prior to emergence. Please explain? Post emergence the company is "supposedly" worth ~$500M. Anyone interested would wait till post-emergence and then wheel and deal. KKR? They walked when their loans were paid back and their board members left. Don't base your plans on them being a savior, sorry. What do you see?

That was the point of what was written. KKR cannot be viewed as a white knight to come riding in and save the commons. They have their own agenda. It would be interesting to know whether or not the value in the 40 million stock warrants were paid back or written off.

All shares purchased for 150 million, That is 1 dollar per share to aquire shares that they have not already aquired under 20 cents, 400 milllion to pay off secureds, banks own what 700 million that they bought for under 15 cents, pay them 30 cents thats 210 million, To keep the DI and PI offer 650 million to KPP. So far thats about 1.4 billion . How much else is outstanding on the rest of the debt? DO NOT USE MY NUMBERS, I have no fucking Idea. Just trying to get the conversation started, do your own DD.

Tooth Fairy comes in late at night when everyone is sleeping, slips on Nitrous Oxide mask, and pulls everyone's teeth and leaves a dollar a tooth.
Humans have 32 teeth, but lets say that wisdom teeth have been pulled, so then we are down to 28 teeth.
Lets say 2 are missing from opening up beer bottles, and an average of 2 more per side are missing (4), so we are down to an average of 22 teeth.
Now I have read there are 90,000 shareholders, so 90,000 X $22 = That's $1,980,000.
We spread out and do a search for Bigfoot. We get video and photo evidense and we sell it to the national inquirer for a cool $5 million.
Now we are at almost $7 million.
We then capture him alive and put him on a traveling tour, and sell the rights out for $50 Million.
We are at $57 Million!
We deploy a fisherman's net and troll for the Lock Ness Monster, and we catch old Nessie, we can maybe sell her for $100 million.
Okay, now we are talking, we are at $157 million.
We break into Wright-Patterson AFB and recover the Aliens that crashed in Roswell in 1947, I think we can sell them for at least $200 million.
Okay, almost there- $357 Million!
We run the gauntlet at area 51 and with 5 tons military trucks, smash through the camouflage doors in the side of the mountain, and we load up the "sport model" UFO that Bob Lazar said he reverse engineered in the 90's. Upon loading, we make sure we have an ample supply of element 115, also known as "unobtainium" and I think we can sell that for about $500 Million.
So, we now have $857 Million cash in hand!
Lets now make an offer to buy some or all of the company!
Its that easy guys, you just have to believe!
Let's get busy!
