Per the Rochester Democrat & Chronical: Under terms of the deal,it would end an array pf patent infringment lawsuits and countersuits involving Kodak and such firms as Apple Inc., Apple spin off Flashpoint, FujiFilm Corp. and Blackberry maker RIM LTD. Once Kodak signs the deal, close to 20 seperate such complaints currently in federal court or before the ITC would be dismissed. Therefore any discussion or research on cases in Federal Court or before the ITC is a complete waste of time. I am not sure how often the D & C is wrong but it does not make sense to buy patents and then not enforce them against companies that are not part of this group of 12 companies… Big companies like Apple Google and Samsung want to stay big and patents help to beat down the smaller and up and coming companies… This is not to say some cases such as cases between Apple and Kodak will not be settled but they will be settled in a way to maintain the value of the patents and strengthen the patents for who ever is buying them or they would not have bought them.

Does this new patent sale deal make all this ITC stuff dead now? SBG I don't think so; someone will own these patents, Apple, Kodak or the patent group. They will want these patents affirmed so they can force fees on companies who are not part of the group of twelve or even within the group depending on how it is structured. Who knows maybe Apple was able to low ball their IP payment with this group and will shift that money to their possibly buying Kodak for an already agreed upon price that is higher based on the IP settlement between Apple and Kodak...

No clue what the details of the agreement are; can't imagine $500 Million being the total settlement. Past infringement of 218 was said to be 1 billion -- Laura said 6 billion future money over next 4 years... something does not add up-- no clue what the status of the different litigations are-- Gropper has not approved this has he? -- Today's play is a gain of $500 million I guess or a loose of $2 billion depending on how you see it... Or maybe the details are not public yet... Maybe Laura drank the Kool-Aid

ITC ruled infringement by Apple and Rim if 218 was ruled valid under appeal... Under new sale or agreement and patent peace no clue what the arrangements are… NewYork are you asking me a question? -- Thanks

"The group is led by Intellectual Ventures Management LLC and RPX Corp., Kodak said Wednesday. Google, Apple and RIM are among the 12 companies that will license the patents in the deal, according to a court filing. Under the terms, Intellectual Ventures will split the payment with the licensees. Facebook, Amazon.com and Microsoft also are part of the group, the court filing shows, along with Samsung Electronics, Adobe Systems, Fujifilm Holdings Corp., Huawei Technologies, HTC Corp. and Shutterfly. The auctioned patents - more than 1,100 related to the capture, manipulation and sharing of digital images - were previously estimated by an advisory firm to be worth as much as $2.6 billion. Won't the court have to make an equity committee if Kodak was expecting more money from the sale of these patents? Or since the pensions are still not on the table maybe even if more money was on the table the court might still think there is an equity deficiency. -- Thanks

5 payments of $525 million is 2.625 Billion -- perhaps Kodak will get a yearly payment of $525 Million in January. -- So then this would give Kodak $525 + $525 + $830 to pay off or down a number of things -- then Maybe roll the rest up in a loan from Barclays to be paid off with future $525 payments... Just guessing.... Wake up dude. It's over. $525 million total for a one time patent sale. Kodak and Perez already over license these patents and have exhausted their value years ago. That's the reason that Kodak's total patent revenue crashed to a mere $64 million in 2011. Once the BK judge sign off on the deal, Kodak can say bye bye to these patents. No more tall tales about further litigation, or forming a licensing company, or suing tablet makers. Remember Quantela's irresponsible comment about $6 billion over 4 years? I told you guys at the time that the comment was completely baseless and unsupported by known facts. Some of you are just too gullible to fall for LQ and AP's lies. Too naive and eager to be the victim of that master bullshitter Ken Pro. Hey Fox thanks for your thoughts, time will tell--

Apple, Google, Amazon, more buying Kodak patents for $525 million By Tiffany Hsu | Updated 8:23 a.m. Bankrupt Eastman Kodak Co. said it will sell about 1,100 digital-imaging patents to a group that includes Apple Inc., Google Inc. and Facebook Inc., for about $525 million. The consortium of 12 companies, led by Intellectual Ventures and RPX Corp., also includes a collection of other major technology companies including BlackBerry maker Research in Motion, Amazon.com Inc., Microsoft Corp., Samsung Electronics Co., Adobe Systems Inc., Huawei Technologies Co. and HTC Corp. Fujifilm Holdings Corp., whose digital-camera innovations were said to be a factor in Kodak's decline, is also part of the group, according to a motion filed in bankruptcy court Wednesday. So is Shutterfly Inc., which acquired the online Kodak Gallery service in April and then shut it down. The approximately $525-million payment will be split between Intellectual Ventures and the 12 intellectual property licensees, according to Kodak. The patent portfolio was initially thought to be worth billions of dollars. www.latimes.com/business/money/

"The patent deal was reached with a consortium led by Intellectual Ventures and RPX Corp. A portion of the purchase price will come from 12 intellectual property licensees.
