Gotta chime in here, cuz this whole talk about manipulation just does not seem right to me, and I still don't get it how someone could manipulate a stock price. We keep hearing on this board that as soon as the volume goes up then it will not be possible to manipulate the stock anymore. Didn't we have a couple of very large volume days last month? Like 14-15 million shares or so? Not all that much pps movement came about during that time in the grand scheme of things, and the pps came back to where it was stuck at before. So I would like to hear a better explanation from somebody as to how a stock like this can be manipulated. And also a better reason as to why somebody would want to manipulate a stock price to keep the pps constant. To have it increase or decrease I could understand, but why constant? Please explain.

Yes Freddi. We all know that the markets are fully on the up and up. Have a great day.

They call it trading range. Not too high to get in and not too low to be scared to get in. It is a invitation for traders/investors/nutwits to stay interested........

For starters, here's an article on discussing how Goldman Sachs told the Govt in court that their trading programs could be used to manipulate markets in unfair ways: www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=newsarchive&sid=aFeyqdzYcizcSecondly there are around 20 million shares sold short, and we the retail investor can not do that, so these short sellers have a vested interest in a low PPS to "buy" in to. I guess the objective would be twofold, to cover their shorts low, and accumulate from retail investors they are attempting to get to buy higher and ultimately, sell back to them lower and stay out. The exact mechanisms of how they perform their manipulation, is outside of my knowledge base. Finally, half of me knows the idea of someone manipulating this stock seems silly. The other half is going why the heck are we flat to down when we have had two consecutive days of positive news.

I don't know why some people have to post smart ass answers. I just really want to know, and am asking honest questions.
Anyway, thanks for the info malignment. But still I don't get the motivation. If somebody could really manipulate the stock price reliably, seems to me that he would attempt to make more price swings, then buy and sell accordingly to make himself more money. This as opposed to just trying to keep the price constant.

Sorry for sounding like I was being a smart ass but do you really think that with all the $$ involved in the markets that everything is on the up and up? I know that there are naive people out in our world but really now?

Freddi we had some pretty big moves when the patent sale was announced, getting lots to buy on the way up to .25 cents, and then back down again. Now we are drifting listless yes. It may have to do with psychology too, I know this listless downward movement is weighing on me. The current non-action may be to cause people to "sweat" and get antsy, then the next time we get a move up they would be more inclined to dump, and do the work for them? I'm just speculating here

Of course I don't believe that everything is on the up and up. Most people are just looking to make a buck, and a lot of them will do whatever it takes, whether ethical/illegal or not. Been in the market for a long time, just not normally with this kind of stock. The only other one of this type for me was GGP, where I made a killing - probably not the only one here that made a killing on that one. Normally I stick to the much more conservative stuff. But hey, I like Vegas too, and that's why I'm here.
