So....I've purchased a pretty good position in AAMRQ @ 3.23 I'm thinking about applying what I've learned about the cyclical and predictable movements of BK stocks and generate some cash. I think that I can take advantage of 20% swing trades a couple of times per qtr.
What say you?

Good idea LF! I have been trading this stock on/off since the DOJ lawsuit announcement. Right now I'm not holding any shares, but as we get closer to the trial, I think there will be another opportunity to buy in the $2's.

Hello JD... I am trying to get a position in aamrq. So your logic is that pps will drift down below 3usd as Nov. closes in. My timing on stock trades has been very bad lately and was thinking of buying in on a decent dip. I should wait longer?
TIA.

I think there are a ton of investors that have bought AAMRQ at a low price in hope of a settlement before it goes to court. As we get into November and there is no settlement, I think many people will not take a chance and sell their shares. IMO

Maybe a run to the high 6.00?

I see this going one of two ways. 1) DOJ gets a stay/ delay after two more weeks of Gov. shutdown. Share price moves quickly back to 3.50ish 2) DOJ and AAMRQ come to a resolution in the coming days. Share price moves quickly to 9+.... I obviously am banking on option #2....

There was a news friday that the judge refused the DOJ request for a delay due to the government shutdown. Could be the reason for run up on the pps last week.
There was also news of a upgrade in AAMRQ rating to "outperform" and to a "target" price of $11.00. Things seem to look good in the American Skies. Knocking on wood and crossing fingers on both hands.
Thank you for for thoughts. I am trully lost in this stock trading with 3 disastrous sallies since kodak.

Def...I would caution you..just because the DOJ's request for a delay was denied on the first request is no assurance that it will be denied on the second or third request. There are a lot of crooked mofo's in this BK racket. Anything is still possible to the down side. I agree though, things are certainly looking up for AAMRQ..!

I am in this one as well, but at just under five bucks a share. Can't help but believe we can see 7, but I doubt much more than that. Lets not forget what we learned from kodak. Take some profits, be happy and move on. We all know there will be another dip, then we can buy again but keeping our previous profits as a gain. I plan to do the same with Exide. I can't believe I am still trading BK stocks. One big learning experience for me, is to diversify and not get greedy. When EK was in bankruptcy, I had a chance to split my investment between EKDKQ and AAMRQ, and said what's the difference, they both will fly high and got lazy without diversifying. Now, I wish I did. One went flying high, while the other crashed. But while, in EKDKQ, we had many chances to take some profits and still keep a decent position and many of us never took profits. Looking back, we should have and still could have held some stock in case it would pop, but we wanted to make a ton of money, rather than a lot. So, I am trying to force myself to not be greedy.
Good luck to everyone. Never give up, is what I learned. I like that we are still trading and not left burnt. One key thing with the market is that everyday we gain experience and get better at it, regardless of the losses. If you leave after losses, then you never have a chance to apply what you learnt in future investments.
Lets make our losses back!
Cheers
RC

Mayors Speak Out Against The DOJ
NOTE: Notice Rahm Emanuel in this. He's good pals with Mr. Obama!
Mayors from cities with a lot to lose urged U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder to settle the U.S. Department of Justice antitrust lawsuit that seeks to block the merger of American Airlines and US Airways. Their letter, dated Wednesday, put a lot of emphasis on how killing the merger would hurt business, communities, the airlines and their employees and a little emphasis on how it would hurt consumers. “We support the merger of American and US Airways because it is based on growth which benefits consumers and our communities,” the mayors wrote. “A hub airport is only as good as the route network it supports, and our cities represent hubs throughout the United States that would benefit from a broader route network.” The mayors called the lawsuit, filed Aug. 13, “ill-conceived.” “Without this merger, American and US Airways will be at a permanent competitive disadvantage to Delta and United, each of which has been allowed to build superior route networks through mergers that were cleared by the Justice Department, the latter under your watch,” the letter added further down. “The long-term prospects of American and US Airways will be imperiled. But even worse than the impact on the merging companies, failure to clear the combination of American Airlines and US Airways will put our cities at an unnecessary competitive disadvantage to Atlanta, Newark and other hubs that directly benefit from the Delta and United mergers,” the mayors stated. Signing were mayors Mike Rawlings of Dallas, Betsy Price of Fort Worth, Patsy Kinsey of Charlotte, N.C., Carlos A. Gimenez of Miami-Dade County, Michael Nutter of Philadelphia, Greg Stanton of Phoenix and Rahm Emanuel of Chicago. Dallas-Fort Worth, Miami and Chicago are American hubs, while Philadelphia, Phoenix and Charlotte are US Airways hubs.

Sometimes I still feel a little guilty about dashing in and out with a wad of money. Today it was STXS....it was a beautiful swing...! There is more "run" over at RSOL that I'm currently working.... There is a bounce due over at ARIA that I'm working.... These are a couple that I have no long term aspirations towards. I feel a bit like a pimp...

little fred- There is a problem investing in companies that you have no long term aspirations over... what will you do when they start to go down?
Buy into companies that you believe in their future....
You (littefred) have been lucky that they market has been going higher and higher everyday (more or less). Wait till the market drops 10-25% and see how you feel swing trading with companies you don't believe in...
As far as what happens when fairness is applied in BK, I need to ask you a serious question... would you buy a 100,000 dollar piece of equipment from a BK company (like a printer)? Kodaks sales fell off a cliff while they were in BK.
Now if you were going to fly NY to Vegas, would an airline being in BK effect your decision on which flight to take (nope only price)?

Hey "expert" you know everything. Nasdaq or NYSE?
by franz_gess • Sep 8, 2013 2:59 AM Flag I have been caught with a short position at the moment the stock was canceled. I owe to buy 2 million shares. My bank is giving me a headache because of that. For accouting purposes regulations in Germany require me to get the shares from somewhere so that the short position is closed out. I am willing to invest a portion of my profit from my Kodak bet for the purpose of straightening out my account. I offer 0,005 $ per share which adds up to 10.000 $ if you can deliver the full 2 million shares. A smaller amount of shares is also ok. The transaction works like an over the couter sales between our banks. My bank transfers the money, your bank transfers the shares. My email: franz_gess@t-online.de

Golden...I really don't think that you can lecture me on sticking with a company when times get tough....I mean seriously? My analysis of EK's intrinsic value was and still is correct. I was terribly wrong about fairness being applied in the BK judicial process. The majority of my portfolio is invested long. My statement was that an increasing percentage is being applied to swings....mainly because of the success I've seen.

My analysis of EK's intrinsic value was and still is correct. I was terribly wrong about fairness being applied in the BK judicial process. Delusional much? Yes, you're right and the rest of the world was wrong, but reality doesn't back up you statement in any way, shape, or form. I think that is the very definition of wrong. But keep telling yourself your a smart person, it seems to be working for you so far.
