Congressman Tom Reed: “Eastman Business Park an Engine of Growth”
ongressman Tom Reed today visited Eastman Business Park and described it as “an engine of growth for our Upstate New York economy.”
Meeting with leaders from many of the more than 30 businesses that are now are tenants of Eastman Business Park before touring the site, Congressman Reed said that the site’s renewed focus on green technologies well fits its advanced capabilities at the intersection of imaging and materials sciences.
“There will be billions of dollars invested in coming years in industries like solar technology and biofuels, and we are working to ensure that many of these investments are made in the U.S. because we have the right combination of resources and support structure,”
Congressman Reed said. “I fully expect that Eastman Business Park will be a major beneficiary of such investments because it has such a unique combination of resources in one location.”
Congressman Reed added that a partnership of government, industry and academia can help realize this potential.
“Our partnership can drive growth of new, well-paying jobs for residents of our communities across the regions,” he said. “I will be working with other Members of Congress to ensure that we take advantage of these opportunities to secure domestic sources of clean energy, while driving our regional and national economies.”
Michael Alt, Director of Eastman Business Par, hosted Congressman Reed.
“Momentum is building to make Eastman Business Park a center for clean technology and alternative fuels development and manufacturing,” Alt said. “With recent commitments to the site from solar technology pioneer Natcore and clean fuels innovator Cerion Energy, we are poised to take off. The capabilities and infrastructure of Eastman Business are uniquely suited to position firms in this space to succeed.”
