If we don't have clarity by February 28, I am going to go crazy...

I will give this further thought. The JK Imaging announcement that followed the less than revealing patent sale irritated me to no end. On one hand, I feel that Kodak's counsel must believe that it is in Kodak's best interest to keep this under the radar - perhaps for the purpose of the UK pensions or the final deal has not been signed. On the other hand, the secrecy has now reached grotesque levels.

With the patent sale, I still can't help wondering about the 10% for ATLC Did Kodak structure the deal so ATLC would see less of Kodak's money? While we believe they got hosed because the NUMBER we see is 525 million? There is a lot of "under seal" crap related to that deal TOO...

I feel you Mike, as I am on the edge of insanity too.
But I must tell you July 31 2013 all will be revealed.

From the 412 page document for financing.
There was a couple parts asking for POR to be released by July 31 2013.

If that is true, doesn't that again point to buyout? Buyout can be a 4-6-8 month process...
Otherwise, what would Kodak be doing all these months? Gropper would bring the hammer down because Kodak would be doing precious little... there is not much more to accomplish sans buyout...

I previously posted the domain registration information for kodakcamera-jkiltd.com, which revealed the admistrative and registrant information related to Asia Optical (contact name: Shun-Yao Hsiao, email: mis@aoci.com.tw).
I also posted the domain registration info for JK Imaging (jkiltd.com). The registrant and administrative contacts revealed the following:
Administrative Contact: JK Imaging Ltd. Alex Lin 1411 W. 190th Street, Suite 550, Gardena, CA 90248, USA 1411 W. 190th Street, Suite 550, Gardena, CA 90248, USA Gardena, CA 90248 AS Phone: +1.886975456858 Email: alex.lin88@gmail.com
I already discussed the use of General Imaging's address.
What is interesting is the contact name "Alex Lin". The name "Alex Lin also appears in association with a domain registration with Asia Optical:
Registrant: Asia Optical Co., Ltd. AN-HE Branch/No.98, An-He Rd., Tantz Shiang Taichung Hsien, NA 427 TW
Domain Name: ASIA-OPTICAL.COM
Administrative Contact: Lin, Alex AN-HE Branch/No.98, An-He Rd., Tantz Shiang Taichung Hsien, NONE 427 TW 886-4-25335715 EXT.597 fax: 886-4-25342689
Technical Contact: Network Solutions, LLC. 13861 Sunrise Valley Drive Herndon, VA 20171 US 1-888-642-9675 fax: 571-434-4620
Record expires on 29-Mar-2013. Record created on 29-Mar-1999.
Domain servers in listed order:
DNS.AOCI.COM.TW DNS.ASIA-OPTICAL.COM.TW
So what's the significance? The domain registration information for JK Imaging (jkiltd.com) provides a single record where JK Imaging uses the mailing address of General Imaging but a contact name affiliated with Asia Optical. Clearly kodakcamera-jkiltd also uses a contact person affiliated with Asia Optical.
I don't mean to beat a dead horse, but there is clearly coordination between General Imaging (a GE company), Asia Optical, and JK Imaging.
Remember, Altek and Asia Optical (and its affiliate Yorkey Optical) were the primary OEMs for Kodak camera.
AO is also the main OEM for Fuji

Logik I can appreciate the brand name licensing, very interesting indeed. What kind of market penetration do project with these products even under the Kodak brand name? I think you had mentioned earlier that Kodak had slipped out of the top five leaders in that industry.
Can the revival of the Kodak brand be propelled by the GE/JKI marketing and distribution chain? With respect to GE, Kodak brand products is a small investment in comparison to their overall global presence in many industries. It's a good entry point for GE to penetrate this market.
IMO...GE is truly a viable partner in any other plans that might transpire.

IMO....Another angle might be: if GE emerges as a buyer for all of Kodak, 1) it would be a good match just with regards to possible collaboration of Kodak inventors with GE inventors. 2) real estate throughout the world 3) remaining 9000+ patents 4) cash flow positive subsidiaries throughout the world 5) no more patent litigation 6) cash from sales of IP + DI + PI = $1-1.5 billion 7) current cash = $1.2 billion 8) no legacy costs 9) NOLs = $4 billion (this alone would make a buyout worth it because out of pocket for GE would basically be zero!)
For the low price of $4-5 billion

DMD.
The Kodak brand could help propel GE or GE-Kodak into the world's top 5, almost overnight. GE is already the fastest growing brand at the low to mid price point range, but is nowhere near the top ten overall. I believe Kodak still maintains a 10th position (some say 8th), but beyond the top five or six, the number of shipments get close. So it all depends on targeted price point as well as targeted region. Interestingly, both GE and kodak were targeting Latin America heavily. And even Pioneer came out with an Altek-manufactured camera line manufactured in Brazil. So apparently the region is highly targeted for growth. Kodak and GE share a focus in the lower to mid-price point for the majority of their respective product lineups. Under the right management and distribution, the Kodak brand would be gold. GE could provide this. Kodak would vastly strengthen GE's camera patent void .... should this prove more than just a brand deal.

Agree on all counts.
I do not understand how GE and General Imaging have put together a camera line with so little IP. They have almost nothing in the camera-related IP classes and it would benefit greatly from Kodak's camera and printer technology. Was GE licensing camera ip from others? And where does AO fit in with respect to the Kodak's camera patent licensing now with the lawsuit behind them? Interesting triangle for sure.
Regarding GE's printers ambitions. I posted on this topic on a separate thread and cited an article that mentioned GE's intent to launch a printer with its camera line in 2007. I don't believe that ever happened. Clearly, acquiring kodak would place GE as a printer leader overnight.
I hate to make it more complicated, but don't count out Fuji. It shares the same OEM (asia optical) used by GE and Kodak. Fuji may also be up for swapping film (motion for still). So many possibilities, but so few clues.
How about we go with your idea.... GE buys All of Kodak for a bargain at $5B! I like it.

Logik as usual you've outdone yourself. I agree re: Let the lawyers do their thing. They are keeping it under wrap strategically, even though, and unfortunately they could still be planning to do away with common, which is the rub.
IMO, If you are long, you have to trust that the S&C lawyers are working with the intention of maximizing your chances. At this juncture letting the cat out could only hurt negotiations (pension obligation, creditors, etc.) which would directly affect your chances.
You cant go crying bloody murder to the judge if nothing has happened. First EK has to file in court, either with the POR or I guess anytime prior. Until they file to cancel the stock, there is really nothing to object to. If The Groppah is allowing it, he must think is necessary, aka good for the company, which is the desired outcome, right? When and if this is filed, then you can and must raise up.
Seriously if you think they will cancel the stock, and feel like you got to call The Groppah on his bat phone yesterday because Andrew Dietrich has not called to let you know how things are progressing, its time to sell your stock.
Logik once again thank you for all your generosity as you share endless knowledge and produce incredible research that keeps progressively getting tastier, as it dissipates some of the fog surrounding all the possibilities and permutations. GE, that would be something. No stalking horse, but rather an unexpected dark horse.
