Here are two trademarks recently filed by JK Imaging: Pix Pro and iShow. Interesting to see the overlap with Kodak's personal imaging technology/products. I have no idea how JK Imaging's 'iShow' trademark will stand when others in very similar products and sevices have similar trademarks; for example: ishow.com: iShow®.com Inc. is a registered corporation in the State of Washington. Founded in 1999, as a digital age marketing communications company, the company now has two key divisions: iShowMedia™ involved in providing leading edge integrated marketing communications solutions and NextGen Ventures, focused in the home and DIY categories developing NextGen branded events, homes, products and joint ventures. And although probably unofficial (as Apple currently does not own an 'iShow' trademark), but there is this floating around the internet: iShow pico projector www.phonesreview.co.uk/2011/01/27/top-8-best-apple-design-concepts-that-should-release/Note that JK Imaging's description for their iShow filing was: "The description provided to the USPTO for ISHOW is Cameras; Cinematographic projectors; Digital cameras; Digital video cameras; Lenses for cameras; Liquid crystal display (LCD) projectors; Movie projectors; Multimedia projectors; Photographic projectors; Picture projectors; Projectors particularly projectors for the entertainment industry; Self-acting focussing projectors; Slide projectors; Video projectors. Looks like GE found a better name for their digital cameras.
OR maybe GE is the new daddy of Kodak...sure haven't seen them mentioned much, and they have an arm in everything, and are based in NY!

JK's trademark application indicates "First use in commerce" as December 31st, 1969[/u
www.markhound.com/trademark/search/02p4eO4KW
What is "first date in commerce":
The date of first use in commerce is the date when the goods were first sold or transported under the mark in a type of commerce. It can also be the date when the services were first rendered, under the mark in a type of commerce. The commerce should be lawfully regulated by Congress, and the use should be bona fide and in the ordinary course of trade. To secure a date of first use in commerce the trademark owner should use the mark in trade in a manner that allows consumers to rely on it to identify and discriminate between the user’s goods or services from those of competitors’. Since the authority for the Trademark Act is based on the interstate commerce clause, the user must also demonstrate use in interstate commerce to obtain a federal registration. The interstate commerce requirement is met when use of the mark in trade includes activity that either crosses state lines or affects interstate commerce directly or indirectly such as by selling products or services to interstate travelers. Pursuant to 37 CFR 2.20, a date of first use in commerce is not required to receive a filing date in an application based on use in commerce. If the application does not include a date of first use in commerce, the examining attorney will require that the applicant state the date of first use in commerce, supported by an affidavit or declaration.
JK's CEO Joseph Atick is also CEO of JAACX distributors, which includes GE's General Imaging in their major vendors list: "our Top 5 vender base are SONY,OLYMPUS ,PHILIPS, GE, Panasonic,Lexar"
www.jaacx.com/
Now why would JK's trademark be registered using GE General Imaging's well established CA address if GE was not somehow involved in acquiring or licensing Kodak's products, trademarks, and/or technology?
Strange.

GE makes sense to me too as a buyout partner because they have consumer lines as well as industrial lines that would like Kodak's security, solar, and thin-film tech.
They are kind of like Kodak USED to be...diversified and lots of cash...

Latin American Ambitions: Mr. Atick's connection to General Imaging goes back to General Imaging's start in 2006: "General Imaging was started last year by Hiroshi “Hugh” Komiya, a former president of Olympus Imaging Corporation. It is now ready to take on rivals like Canon, Sony and Eastman Kodak in Latin America." www.latinbusinesschronicle.com/esp/article.aspx?id=1647

What do you think is going on below the surface on this deal Logik? Anything?

Mike, I don't know, but Mr. Atick is a busy man and he appears to be in the middle of almost every camera distribution deal out there. He's a player no doubt. He was also listed here under "Photoimaging Manufacturers and Distributors Association" under JA Capital Companies, which he formed around the same time that the RedDot - Agfa deal was made. www.pmda.com/members/The Pix Pro and iShow trademark applications are a different twist for Mr. Atick. I therefore suspect that GE/General Imaging is behind this, not JAACX (Joe Attick). JK Imaging is probably a transitional shell until the details are worked out with Kodak and General Imaging. I am unsure about what the deal might involved were it not at least Kodak's personal imaging assets. Anyone else care to speculate?

I really can't see why GE would want just personal imaging and let the rest of the company (which I think would be more valuable to them) go on the dung heap.
GE has grown mostly by acqusition in the last 30 years, this would be another wise one!

So yesterday I called the telephone number ( 310.328.7777 )for General Imaging and stated I was looking for someone at JK Imaging Limited .
The person at the other end appeared to be someone employed by an offshore answering service. The person acknowledged General Imaging but stated that he knew nothing about JK Imaging .
Oh well !

I am confident that GE is behind the JK Imaging deal. GE's General Imaging reached out to a trusted partner (Joseph Atick) who could maintain a low profile during the time needed to close the official deal. This allows GE (JK Imaging) to place the wheels in motion to distribute Kodak's brand/products world-wide. I also believe that the trademarks Pix Pro and iShow will be packaged with General Imaging and/or Kodak's brands. For example, see the iPico: www.gizmag.com/general-imaging-ipico-hand-held-projector/23718/or GE's Power Pro series: www.general-imaging.com/us/supportDetail.aspx?id=1099

Jim,
Glad to contribute. As Fred stated on another thread, there have been many twists and turns on this midnight rollercoaster ride. I'm sure there will be many more. But I feel that we are close to a rewarding end. Now that Matt has revealed our MB presence with his letter to Gropper, we can further press the deal makers as we slowly unravel plausible outcomes. We have many dedicated people here reviewing docs and performing DD of various sorts. Let us all continue in earnest through finality.

Nice job Logik.
I think this makes it clear that GE has bought at least the former camera unit, and probably all of Kodak.

Another thing I'd like to point out is GE, along with Rochester firms (Kodak, Xerox) are world leaders in all kinds of imaging including medical imaging and advanced imaging technologies.
Maybe that is why they are fine selling the big patents because cell phone related patents are not a core interest of theirs, but the stuff DEEP in Kodak's vaults IS.
